Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture.  This series was made by Studio Shirogumi and Telecom Animation Film.  It was directed by Yūichirō Yano, who also did some work on Batman: The Animated Series and Tiny Toon Adventures.  Awesome sauce.

Look at those little guys!  Who wouldn't want to be infected by them?
