This episode I go over the official Up a Paddle 2008 Awards, talk about new years resolutions, read out email correspondence, bandy about a few shoutouts and review The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk.

Wherein I discuss my previous New Year's resolution (to learn the words to Yo Ho Yo Ho A Pirate's Life for Me - I succeeded - Woot) and I also discuss my resolutions for this year. One of them would be quite easy if a talented anime podcaster in my area started up a con of his own, possibly centered around 80's anime, perhaps.

Dear lord! I've been listening to you for 4 years?! My, how time flies... Also Prince of Persia was not good... Valkyria Chronicles for the win!

Yeah, I said the awards were out of the games I played (and either finished or was finished with them). That's not a big list. Valkyria Chronicles is still in the queue to play and I suspect will win the retroactive 2008 awards next year. Also, I think your opinion on the matter may be biased a little, RPGLamer.

Don't know when it started, how long it's been going on, or for how long it will continue to go, but apparently there's a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament at the U of R every other Saturday somewhere in the Kinesiology department. Saw a sign posted on the boards outside the Lazy Owl this aft. Might want to check it out.

Maybe there'll be girls there!

And by "girls" I mean women of consenting age, not underage robotic ones in pornographic material you try and peddle to your coworkers.

Yes, Alex is indeed obsessed with lost; Which I've never really been bothered to watch. He kept telling me about something called "Deadwood", and I assured him that his wife might be a better person than me to talk about such ailments...

Then I realized it was a television show. I watched the first episode and didn't really care for it.

Kung Fu Panda was indeed great, and it was genuinely embraced in China. In other words, they got a lot of it right.

It does get 1/10 of a star removed however, due to the inclusion of "Kung Fu fighting" which every single US Film-maker deems fit to put on anything with any martial arts reference in it. (At least this time it actually WAS about Kung Fu)

@Bob - Yeah, I saw that poster for the SSBM tourney. I may have to check it out some Saturday and get soundly owned. I apologize for not being available on MSN. I'm not quite sure what happened there. If you want, use upapaddle@gmail.com. That should be adequate for getting a hold of me. Also, the promo did sound better in my head than in actual implementation (as does most of what I say) but I appreciate the feedback nonetheless. I have a new crappy idea for a promo.

@Dane - I'm in the same boat with Deadwood. I watched an episode and sort of lost interest.
I give Kung Fu Panda kudos for having Jack Black sing Kung Fu Fighting, but remove two kudos for changing the lyrics. Have you seen the Secrets of the Furious Five yet? It's a side story done mostly in the same style as the movie opening. Good stuff. Why they didn't include it on the Blu-ray I'll never know.

Its funny you bring it up,because I was thinking a con could do well in Regina,if I ever get one going you have to promise to run about 5 panels!!

Hmmm I wonder if I could get a small con together.
Kent if we get our anime club up and running again you have to join..then we can build our empire..err I mean anime con.

Five Panels! I don't think I'd have enough interesting material for five minutes, let alone five panels.
